Behind the exhibitions at SDSU's University Art Gallery

The University Art Gallery is a program of the School of Art, Design and Art History, which in turn is a unit of the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) of San Diego State University (SDSU). Since 1985 the director of the Gallery has been Tina Yapelli. Ms. Yapelli is a professor of art and teaches a course each semester in Gallery Exhibition Design. The students of Gallery Exhibition Design participate in all aspects of the installation of exhibitions, while work-study students serve as gallery attendants. University Art Gallery exhibitions and educational programs are sponsored by the School of Art, Design and Art History; the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts; and the fund for Instructionally Related Activities. Additional support is provided by the San Diego State University Art Council, which also sponsors one exhibition each year at the Gallery.

The San Diego State University Art Council promotes understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts through exhibitions, related educational activities and student scholarships. Membership plays a vital role in advancing quality programs and publications. The Art Council invites you to join in its support of contemporary art.

Free Admission!

All exhibitions, special events and educational programs offered by the University Art Gallery are free of charge and open to the public.

Exhibition Schedule and Gallery Hours

Exhibitions are presented during the fall and spring academic semesters. During exhibitions the Gallery is open Monday through Thursday and Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m.

Getting Here and Parking

Would you like Directions to San Diego State University? When you arrive on campus, pick up a free parking permit at the Gallery during regular hours. You can find the Gallery on Campus Map. A parking permit is not required to attend special events and educational programs; you may park anywhere except in red areas.
