About the Exhibition
Zooming Into Focus Contemporary Chinese Video from the Haudenschild Collection is the second exhibition in a two-part series exploring the current art of China. The first exhibition, Contemporary Chinese Photography from the Haudenschild Collection, was presented at the University Art Gallery from 25 October through 6 December 2003.
This exhibition is organized and curated by Tina Yapelli, director of the University Art Gallery. The exhibitions are accompanied by a series of educational programs and artists’ residencies, presented in partnership with the San Diego Museum of Art; the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; the Centro Cultural Tijuana, Mexico; the Shanghai Art Museum, China; the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou; El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Tijuana, Mexico; and the San Diego Chinese Historical Society and Museum. In conjunction with the exhibitions, the Haudenschild Collection commissioned new works by artists Shi Yong and Yang Zhenzhong that will premiere in San Diego.
