About the Exhibition
This project is organized in conjunction with the National Conference for Education in the Ceramic Arts, and is co-curated by Joanne Hayakawa, Richard Burkett and Tina Yapelli. The exhibition will include the work of six artists who explore the issues of visual pleasure and ornamentation as content in contemporary art and craft. Phyllis Green and Tetsuji Aono of Los Angeles, Kathy Butterly of New York and Susan Beiner of San Bernardino will be represented by ceramic sculpture; Neil Forrest of Nova Scotia will present installation works; and Walter McConnell of Alfred, New York will create a large-scale wet-clay installation on site with the assistance of SDSU ceramics students.
